Besides the standard categories Simple Users, Business Users [BE], Students, Teachers [SE], it is possible to add more categories.
Note
Only subcategories of Classes are supported currently. We will provide an example that is targeted to a school, however the functionality can be used to other groups as well. [SE1]
Suppose we have 3 different Classes, A Class, B Class and C Class, each one having students of a particular school year. Each Class has about 100 students that are divided to class sections for their courses.
Grouping students to class sections will allow us to find a student easier, for editing or removal. It will also allow us to select all students of a particular class section and do some action.
For example we can select the students of a class section and send them a folder with an exam or a practise test (see Send / Receive Files [SE]). After they have finished it, we can select these students again and retrieve the folder with the finished exam. Another interesting feature is to setup a Joomla installation to all of them at once.
To manage new user groups we do the following.
From main menu we select Users / Edit Groups and then the group type we want to manage. (image 1)
